Kimball’s Jewelers is seeking an accomplished Master Bench Jeweler to join our team of fine jewelry professionals in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Our bench jewelers play an essential role in that tradition—from restoring treasured heirlooms and working with significant fine jewelry to bringing one-of-a-kind custom designs to life.
We are looking for an experienced craftsperson who takes tremendous pride in the quality of their work and understands the precision, judgment, and attention to detail required when working with fine jewelry.

The Role
Our Master Bench Jeweler will perform advanced jewelry repair, restoration, fabrication, stone setting, finishing, and custom work while maintaining the exceptional quality standards our clients expect from Kimball’s.
This position is ideal for an experienced jeweler who combines exceptional technical ability with creativity, professionalism, problem-solving skills, and a genuine passion for the craft.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform advanced jewelry repairs, restoration, fabrication, and alterations
Expertly work with gold, platinum, silver, diamonds, gemstones, and fine jewelry
Perform advanced stone setting across a variety of setting styles
Solder, laser weld, size, assemble, polish, refinish, and restore fine jewelry
Diagnose challenging repair issues and determine the appropriate repair or restoration method
Execute complex ring sizing and structural repairs while protecting gemstones and original design integrity
Participate in the creation of custom jewelry from concept through finished piece
Work with CAD/CAM technology in support of custom design and manufacturing
Assist with 3D printing, wax preparation, casting, and lost-wax manufacturing
Perform laser engraving and related precision work
Inspect completed work carefully for craftsmanship, structural integrity, finish, and quality
Consult with clients and sales professionals regarding repairs, restorations, alterations, and custom projects when appropriate
Collaborate with our sales, gemological, appraisal, and leadership teams
Assist with jewelry cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance as needed
Maintain an exceptionally clean, organized, professional, and secure bench and shop environment
Follow established procedures for the careful handling, tracking, and protection of client and company merchandise
What We Are Looking For
Exceptional bench jewelry skills and advanced knowledge of jewelry construction and repair
Strong stone-setting capabilities
Expertise working with gold and platinum
Thorough knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, and the special considerations required when repairing fine jewelry
Excellent soldering, laser welding, polishing, finishing, and fabrication skills
Experience with custom jewelry manufacturing
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and quality
Artistic ability and an understanding of proportion, balance, and design
Excellent hand skills and mastery of traditional bench tools and equipment
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with sales professionals and clients
The judgment to recognize when a repair requires additional consideration before proceeding
Unwavering professionalism, integrity, and respect for clients, coworkers, and the merchandise entrusted to our care
A positive, team-oriented attitude
CAD/CAM Experience
Advanced CAD/CAM experience is highly valued. Candidates with strong traditional bench skills who have experience working collaboratively with CAD designers are also encouraged to apply.
Experience with laser engraving, 3D printing, and other modern jewelry manufacturing technologies is preferred; additional training may be available for an otherwise exceptional candidate.
Requirements
Minimum 7 years of professional bench jewelry experience required; 10+ years preferred
Demonstrated advanced repair, fabrication, finishing, and stone-setting experience
Experience working in a fine jewelry or luxury jewelry environment strongly preferred
Significant experience handling high-value jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals
Custom jewelry design and manufacturing experience preferred
Formal jewelry training, trade certification, or advanced bench credentials are valued but not required when supported by substantial professional experience
Candidates should be prepared to provide examples of their work and/or complete a practical bench evaluation as part of the interview process
