The Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring that the pro-shop and retail areas are well-stocked, visually appealing, and organized to meet the needs of members and guests. This position maintains inventory, assists with product displays, and supports the overall merchandising strategy. Working closely with the Golf Operations team, the Merchandiser ensures that all apparel, equipment, and golf-related merchandise is readily available, neatly presented, and aligns with the club's standards for a high-end retail experience.
Experience Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 year of retail merchandising or sales experience in a golf, sports, or luxury environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and visual presentation.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with members and guests.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a proactive and positive attitude.
Knowledge of golf merchandise, apparel, and equipment.
Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic cash handling procedures.
Ability to lift and carry merchandise (up to 100 lbs.) and work on feet for extended periods.
Essential Responsibilities
Create and maintain visually appealing and organized product displays in the pro-shop and retail areas, following seasonal and promotional themes.
Ensure that all merchandise is properly tagged, priced, and aligned with the club's branding and quality standards.
Assist in the setup and breakdown of retail displays for special events, tournaments, and sales promotions.
Keep displays and merchandise clean, organized, and in excellent condition, replacing damaged or outdated items as necessary.
Assist with monitoring and tracking inventory levels, conducting regular stock counts, and ensuring that popular items are reordered in a timely manner.
Receive, unpack, and process incoming merchandise shipments, checking for accuracy and quality.
Organize back stock efficiently and maintain a clean and orderly stockroom.
Work closely with the Golf Shop Supervisor to ensure that inventory is rotated regularly, and slow-moving items are strategically promoted.
Provide exceptional customer service to members and guests, assisting them with product selection, answering questions, and making recommendations.
Assist in processing sales transactions, handling cash and credit card payments accurately and efficiently.
Stay knowledgeable about current product lines, including apparel, equipment, and accessories, to better assist members and drive sales.
Assist members with special orders or custom merchandise requests, coordinating with vendors as needed.
Assist with merchandising and sales support during golf tournaments, charity events, and special occasions, ensuring that the pro-shop meets the needs of participants.
Collaborate with the Golf Operations team to support the overall club activities and enhance the members' experience through quality merchandising and service.
Participate in team meetings and offer suggestions to improve merchandising strategies and product offerings.
Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
